from the city center. It is on the other side
of the hill from the old town and train station.
It is necessary to either hire a taxi or ride
the bus unless you are an amazing walker.
There is a short tunnel that runs through
the hill leading directly to the city center.
The neighborhood itself is very peaceful.
Haus
Wartenburg room for five
Our family's
experience at the bed and breakfast was on the surreal
side. The hotel owner was no where to be found --possibly
because of personal things going on--instead the
hotel appeared to be run by two charming teenagers.
There are two rooms that can accommodate a family
of five. One room is under the roof and covers an
entire floor. The second room is smaller but has
a balcony. Breakfast is included.
This hotel
is about 2 miles (3 KM) uphill (based on their description)
from the city center. Bus service is available,
but still requires some walking. They can accommodate
a family of five in one of their quads. Bus service

In the
Belvedere Quarter, Pension Suzanne has large apartments

that can accommodate families of at least five.
The family reporting in on their favorable experience
stayed in a "family suite" which had two
bedrooms with double beds and a cot in the large
living room a refrigerator, coffee maker and one
bathroom. It is centrally located about 1/2 a block
from the Opera House. Rates include a hearty buffet
breakfast of cereals, meat, cheese, bread, rolls
and soft and hard boiled eggs. There is free internet
access in the office.
This
reasonably priced three star hotel is located
on a charming street in the historic older
section not far from St. Stephen's Cathedral.
The famous Greichenbeisl restaurant is steps
away as is the beautful Greek Orthodox church
the restaurant is named for.
There are two
Metro stops within easy walking distance:
Stephanplatz and Schwedenplatz.
Room
for five - Hotel Austria
The hotel room
we stayed in with our three teenagers has
one double bed, and three comfy roll-aways.
Rates include an excellent breakfast. Breakfast
consisted of traditional austrian meats and
cheeses, rolls, bread slices, soft boiled
eggs, pastries, juices, kid favorite nutella
spread, fruit, cereal with yogurt or milk.
Coffee and hot chocolate are brought to the
table. There is a self serve espresso machine
if you prefer. The staff members were very
friendly and professional -- our favorite
staff person was the kind-hearted lady who
greets you at breakfast and delivers the coffee.
The elevator is tiny. Free Wi-Fi is also available.
